And these fucking pot holes. Somehow this isn't leaking any air, but I don't really trust it for prolonged use.

Kinja'd!!!

As for how it happened, last night after watching a few episodes of Doctor Who, my girlfriend and I went for a cruise. The entire time I was dodging potholes and cursing our cheap ass town for not paving the roads right the first time. We were on our way back, about 10 minutes from home, when the left front wheel dropped into a giant crater hidden by an unassuming puddle. It rocked the car like a bomb went off, but it felt fine to I drove it home and promptly forgot to check for damage. So today I drove to work, still forgetting that I may have bent a steelie, and it wasn't until just now that I went out to my car and finally noticed the damage.

So now since I'm not quite ready to drop $500+ on tires for my 17"s, nor would I want to put them on yet, I'll have to buy a steelie or just deal with this until it starts leaking.

I'm fucking shocked there's no bubble. I suppose I'll try hammering it out, and I guess I'll switch it to the rear while I'm at it.

Hammer it back into place.

Or see if somoen in service can use a dog bone and straighten it out.

I've repaired far worse. As long as the barrel is straight the wheel won't leak air, and they can fix that lip for you with no issues.

I fucking should. If they paved the roads right the first time, they wouldn't have to spend so much on patching the potholes considering the plows rip up the patches after the first snow anyway.

Last summer they patched huge sections of my road and every single spot they did is ripped up now after these storms. So instead of doing it right and just paving the road, now they have to fix it again 6 months later.

I think I'll pull it in the shop now and try and fix it. This is just such a pain in the ass. Good excuse to ditch the hubcaps I suppose.

At this point I wish that I had steelies with winter tires, I think I just went through the grand canyon earlier today.

Yikes. The M5 wheels I had on my 535i would have exploded. I managed to bend all four without ever hitting a pothole. Cracked one twice. Hooray for low profile tires!

You'll just lose.

Unless your wheel fell off and you crash into a wall and killed your girlfriend, you'll just lose.

This is why I'm in no rush to get tires for the 17"s I bought.

Hence why when I bought wheels, I got 17"s rather than 18"s.

Hell, my Focus had 16" Alloys and I hit more potholes in the three years I owned it and never had an issue.

I have hammered many steelies back into shape with no problems

Ottawa is worse than a war zone, needed to drive into the city and had to turn around it was that bad, not ruining my suspension or breaking arms or joints (yes it was that bad!). Still in disbelief what I saw today and can't get over the state of it, they need to do so much work to even get it half decent, but no hope in hell, city has no money (given it to the "special groups" already and wasted it on too much salt). Not sure whats wrong with people tho, I see them hit this shit full-tilt....must be a lease.

They use to do a way better paving job years ago, and actually maybe someone here knows...they did several trial runs of including minced tires in the mix, the stuff held up amazing, safer, no tire landfill or burnoff....they never pursued it or what?

Back to what I wanted to say. In the last two weeks I've had to change two mags for people that cracked from hitting potholes...lucky they both noticed the flat tire "leak" but still amazed the rims didn't explode at speed. Steelies ftw.

Either way, glad I'm not the only one cussing the situation. I swerve and doge all holes, below grade sewer drains, dips and dimples in the highway, etc....still waiting to be stopped for suspicion of dui and driving below the speed limit on the roads because YES....with a moderately stiff suspension setup and tight valving it really is too bumpy!

By the looks of it....you might be able to get most of that out with a large enough mallet.

Went through two tires on my mom's fiat 500 in 2 days. I don't feel bad for you.
